George W. Gordon was a doctor who served in the United States (U.S.) Civil War. Although not formally commissioned until September 1862, he acted as a medical officer of the 4th Ohio Cavalry Company (July 9-December 16, 1861) and later of the 18th Indiana. He served briefly with the Missouri regiment in November 1861 and was on duty with the 2nd Brigade of Carr's Division (April 29-July 5, 1863) during the Vicksburg Campaign.
